Telemedicine: Privacy, Ethics and Other Legal Issues
If nothing else, the pandemic has forced medical professionals to embrace Telemedicine which necessarily means a physical separation between the doctor and patient during consultation, diagnosis or even treatment.
This raises many legal and ethical issues for doctors and concerns for patients who may be wary of using technologies that may threaten their privacy rights.
Apart from that, telemedicine disrupts the current business model of most hospitals which build doctors’ offices in structures physically connected to the medical facility. The pandemic has made those locations sub-optimal, to say the least. This episode of DTT will tackle these issues and examine what’s in store for hospitals, the medical profession, technology providers and most of all, the patients.
