Digital and copyright have a long history that arguably stretches back to the Sony Betamax Case when technology empowered consumers to exercise rights only available to content providers.
Digital technology and a high-speed Internet combined, poses a challenge to providers of all content – software, music, video, and others – to change their business models.
Web 2.0 also placed ordinary users in the same footing as publishers, and they now face the direct responsibility to protect their copyright while respecting the rights of others. This session will discuss the myriad of issues facing copyright in the digital age.
